"Pulling Ribes out from camp. 27 July 2934. I've just pulled a big Locuster (?) but the root broke off. I had to dig it out with the hodag. Bob Kirkpatrick was working with me."

"Hodag" is what they called the short-handled pickaxe. I have been unable to find a definition for Locuster.

Thanks, Mago. For the uninitiated, Mago is Aaron Lauritzen, son of Robert Lauritzen.

I have tried to arrange these photos in groups. Group 1 is 1910 thru 1930. There are 61 postings in this group.

Group 2 is my father's (Kenneth Lauritzen) missionary years from his LDS mission to Denmark. There are 95 postings in this group.

The third group is 1931-1940 -- the years after returning home from my father's mission, going to the Univ. of Idaho, meeting my mother there, their marriage, and other things in that era.

There is an occasional non-mission picture in this second grouping, only because that is where the picture fits most correctly chronologically.

Any caption in quotation marks (" ") is a direct quote from the small photo album journal written by my father.
