Another unlabeled picture. Pensive, isn't he?

86

"A cold, icy moonlight picture of the ocean at Esbjerg. Jul 1929."

"I am standing above Pres. Larsn i fyou can't find me. There were twelve of us in the party."

81

"Steamer at Niagara Falls and Canada. June 1929"
On the trip on his way to Denmark. The person in the picture is not identified.

80

On the back of the picture he wrote, "Do I look seasick"? I assume this was taken on his way to Denmark.

79

Another of the unusual "perks" of being a missionary at this time was that they were allowed to leave Denmark and go to Oberammergau, Germany, to attend the Passion Play. This play made a powerful impression on my father. He spoke of it several times although he did not often speak about his early years.

78

"Along the seashore in Fredericia. A beautiful spot in summer. Wild ducks live here all winter long and sea gulls are everywhere."

77

"At the seashore. K & A Aalborg branch. July 1929"

76

Another unlabeled picture.

75

"M & K in a grain field just after we had crossed the peat beds on our way to Aalborg for tracts. The road was terrible. August 1929."

74

There was no information on this one, but Elder Lauritzen is on the right.

73

"This was taken on one of our Sunday tours. It is the most snow that we have had in the winter of 1929-30. We, Lynn and I, had to go out every Sunday for a walk while our landlady cleaned up, Fredericia. Winter 1930."

72

"A day out tracting whe I wore blisters on my heels. When we reached Strib we had to run to catch the ferry and I broke them. Winter 1930."

71

"Til fader og moder. Det er meg og Broder Pehrson i "Gamleby" Aarhus. Har du hort taleom den for. Den ere sandling et smuk sted."
Obviously written in Danish. I have no idea what it says.

70

Not only were the missionaries allowed to go swimming in the ocean at this time, but as you can see they chose what is certainly immodest by today's standards. However, my Father told me several times about how they would go to the beach and everyone -- men and women alike -- would change without the benefit of a cabana or any other modesty protection. Odd that the missionaries would do that too, but they did.

69

This photo is unlabeled, but I have to assume the "Leviathan" was the ship that either took my father to Europe or brought him home again. I would assume it is the former.

68

"Yours truly and Ellis Christianson in Aalborg, July 1929."

67

I have to assume this is another missionary conference. Kenneth Lauritzen is in the second row, dead center.

66

"One of the sweetest girls in the world, Enid Lauritzen. To date, about 3 years old. 1931."
